Here you see the special IQ electrode, consisting of electrically conductive (red) and non-conductive (yellow) particles. The special structure of the electrode forms an extremely large surface.

After the application of the electric voltage to the electrode each electrically conductive particle constitutes a double pole (i.e. it has a positive and negative end). The entire electrode thus acts like a large number of bipolar electrodes.

By changing the poles the double poles change their sign. What was previously positive becomes negative and vice-versa.

The lime is attached and repelled. Calcium carbonate, which was previously attached at the negative side of the double poles, is repelled again after the reversal of the poles. This is how the nanocrystals are produced.

The nanocrystals float in the water. A zetapotential forms on the specifically large surface of the nanocrystals. The zetapotential effectively prevents coalescence of these nanocrystals and thus holds the lime in the solution in a guaranteed way. It can therefore no longer be deposited in the domestic installation and the hot water tank.
